Overview

This 10 day Itinerary offers you to experience a change in culture & scenery as you travel from Ubud, Sanur across into Java.

Whilst traversing through the lush steep paddy fields, forests and coffee plantations, exploring ancient landmarks, exotic beaches and marine parks you’ll arrive in the most dramatic Volcanic landscapes which is Bromo. Fertile rice-terraces give way to a blanket of lava sands and the smouldering grandeur of Mount Bromo

Lush, laid-back and gloriously scenic, Bali combines its legendary white sands and big surf with a rich tapestry of volcanic peaks, vivid green paddy fields and temples. The island’s vibrant Hindu culture is a defining aspect of its character with traditional music and dance, elaborate ceremonies, and gamelan concerts everywhere you go. Away from the coast, the volcanic interior is blanketed in dense forests that sweep down to colonial hill towns and meandering rice terraces that snake around the hillsides. Here you’ll get an authentic insight into Balinese life and the island’s people.

Meals: Breakfast
We have chosen a moderator route, which begins at the lakeside village of Songan. From here we trek through wild vegetations to the hamlets nestled along the hillside.

Accompanied by experienced, English speaking guide and village, you will enjoy a part of the island that most Balinese are not even aware of. Learn about the challenge’s locals face and how help is provided while enjoying the tranquillity of this remote area and stunning views of Lake Batur and the Indian Ocean.
Around lunchtime, we will relax near the beach and enjoy a delicious meal before heading back to your hotel.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Enjoy morning free at leisure.

Get picked up from the hotel and transfer to Sanur, a laidback little town nestled on a sun-drenched stretch of picturesque beach. Arrive at the headquarters of ‘Strange but Cool’, a start-up fashion brand owned and operated by entrepreneur and designer, Tina Lim. Inside, find a store selling chic fashions created in Strange but Cool’s own design atelier and in the back, the incredible Museum of Vintage Bags. After an informative introduction about the museum and its history, browse the incredible collection of more than 450 different pieces at a leisurely pace.
Purses, totes, and clutches dating from the 1920’s to the 1990’s showcase the major, and lesser-known artistic influences of those periods. While perusing the daintily hung bags that line the colourful walls and tables in funky displays, get a firsthand look at design themes such as art deco, pop art, bohemian, and minimalist, just to name a few.
Next, meet Tina herself for an informative talk on fashion, her obsession with vintage bags, and her impressive history as a businesswoman and designer. She will explain several pieces from her collection, bringing history to life through the classic stories of her bags.
Take a break to enjoy a variety of traditional Balinese sweets and fresh coconut juice before taking part in a handicraft workshop focused on minimising single-use plastic. Using common household items, learn how to ‘upcycle’ plastic bottles and other containers into unique artistic creations. This workshop provides a great opportunity to utilise the fashion knowledge gained at the museum to make unique and sustainable pieces which can be taken home to show friends and family. Once everyone has crafted to their heart’s content, say goodbye to Tina and her team and return to the hotel via vehicle transfer

Travel by speedboat across azure waters and into paradise with this full-day tour that incorporates history, culture and stunning vistas. Begin with a visit to Goa Giri Putri, a breath-taking, colossal underground temple that’s accessed only through a small crack in the rock face.
Next travel to the sleepy, unspoilt village of Semaya to speak to local seaweed farmers and try out farming on the ocean shore. After a stop at Tanglad Village to meet the island’s only male Batik weaver, travel onto the astoundingly beautiful Atuh beach. Accessed via a set of stone steps, this secluded bay boasts spotless white sand, crystal clear water and the perfect spot to paddle, snorkel or simply relax in paradise.
Ancient underground temples, breathtakingly beautiful landscapes and idyllic stretches of sandy beach await with this full-day tour. Begin the day with an exhilarating speed boat ride across cerulean seas and into the paradise that is the island of Nusa Penida. Head to Goa Giri Putri - an ancient holy temple located inside an underground cavern. The uniquely narrow crevice nestled in the rock face is just big enough to allow one person at a time but prepare for jaws to drop as through the stony entrance is an awe-inspiring underground grotto big enough to fit around 5,000 people. Learn about the Hindu religion as a knowledgeable local tour guide walks through shrines, temples and prayer spots where the pilgrims come to worship deities such as Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy.
Continue on to Semaya Village, a charming community where seaweed farming still makes up a large portion of local life. Hear from friendly, local seaweed farmers before trying out this rewarding and simplistic art form. Cut and dry the seaweed and tie under the guidance of an experienced farmer. Depending on the tide, try your hand at replanting and cultivating seaweed on the seaside.
Next, make the stunning journey to the sleepy island village of Tangland to meet a male batik weaver. Traditionally, the process of batik weaving is carried out by females but hear from a man who has carried on the age-old tradition of his ancestors. Enjoy a local snack and drink as you listen to his fascinating story and learn the process for weaving and dying batik to achieve the beautiful end results.
After a morning of exploration, wind down the day with a visit to the breathtakingly beautiful Atuh beach. Surrounded by soaring, foliage-topped cliffs, the secluded Atuh beach is a sight to behold. With flawless white sand and clear turquoise water, this little bay is accessed by a dizzying descent down a set of steeps, stone steps. Upon arrival at the sandy shores gaze out at the huge cliffs and amphitheatre-like seclusion. Enjoy a simple lunch in one of the local restaurants before swimming, sunbathing, or taking photos to wow the people back home.
