Overview

Cape Town is one of the most iconic cities in the world. The famous and dramatic Table Mountain backdrop contrasts wonderfully with the golden beaches, vibrant nightlife, world-class attractions and cosmopolitan atmosphere. It’s the most beautiful city in Africa.

Enjoy Private Full day Hiking Table Mountain and City Tour & Sea Kayaking and Cape Point Tour

The Garden Route sweeps eastwards along the coast of the Cape, running from Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth. See pristine beaches along the rugged coastline flanked by dense forests, mountain ranges and wild flowers. Discover charming towns and villages and enjoy fantastic hospitality. This journey has been inspiring travellers, artists and writers for generations and is certain to give you memories to last a lifetime.

Franschhoek is tucked into the end of the valley, it is one of the prettiest towns in the winelands.  Within the category of luxury Franschhoek hotels, La Residence is in a class of its own. Located in the beautiful Franschhoek valley at the heart of a private 30-acre estate, this is a haven of luxury on every level. Surrounded by vineyards and plum orchards, with a stunning mountain backdrop, La Residence enjoys breathtaking views of the unspoilt rural surrounds and an atmosphere of complete tranquillity. Step into the main hall and be transported to a world of exquisite beauty, opulence and grandeur in this luxury Franschhoek hotel. The eleven suites have been individually and lavishly furnished with charming antiques, fine Persian rugs, exquisite fabrics and a wonderfully eclectic mix of objets d’art. In addition to offering sumptuous Franschhoek accommodation, La Residence also enjoys a reputation for its superb cuisine: meals are served beneath glittering chandeliers in the baronial dining room or in the airy and scenic Persian Alley. With personalized service of the highest order, this is a Franschhoek accommodation of unparalleled luxury.

Head to one of the Cape’s first farming districts, Paarl, and our first stop is the Rhebokskloof Estate. For the next 1.5 hrs, chose to ride either a horse or a quad-bike, following trails that offer panoramic views over the estate, Wellington and the Drakenstein Mountains. Return to the cellar for a wine tasting, and then proceed to the picturesque Franschhoek valley, where the ‘joie de vivre’ of the original French Huguenots still permeates the community and lends gallic inspiration to its chefs and winemakers. Next, a cellar tour and wine tasting at Haute Cabriere Estate. Producing only two varietals – the classic champagne components of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir – Haute Cabriere is synonymous with tradition and authenticity. Then it’s on to lunch at one of the many award winning local restaurants. In the afternoon there’s time to meander Franschhoek’s byways and browse the many galleries, boutiques, antique shops and cultural / historical places of interest. Remaining in charachter, we head for the winding Helshoogte Pass to reach Stellenbosch, which is equally steeped in Cape history. Enjoy a final tasting at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate (time permitting) where the winemaster believes in minimal cellar intervention (using yeasts that occur naturally in the vinyard), to produce superb and distinctive wines

Nestled between mountain and sea, the Grootbos Private Nature Reserve is a five-star eco-paradise showcasing the incredible Flora and Marine life of the Southern Tip of Africa. Home of the “Marine Big 5” – whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins; and with unparalleled floral diversity, Grootbos offers you a one-of-a-kind luxury African experience. Only 2 hours from Cape Town and 30 minutes from Hermanus on the way to the world-renowned Garden Route, Grootbos is perfectly situated between the classic attractions of the Cape and is most certainly a highlight on any itinerary. The Forest Lodge is a masterpiece of sophisticated contemporary design reflecting the breathtaking natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Situated only 7km outside Oudtshoorn, in the Garden Route, surrounded by the famous Swartberg and Outeniqua mountains, with 3 overlapping flower zones. Surrounded by variety attractions like ostrich farms, longest wine route in the world, Cango caves, Wildlife ranch, waterfalls and museums, makes this the ideal destination for a visit or a stay over in the Klein Karoo.

The meerkat tours last between 2-3 hours and booking is essential. Upon arrival at the meerkat burrows, you will be treated to a hot cup of coffee, after which you will get a lightweight aluminium chair to sit in, while observing the meerkats as they come out of the burrow into the sunshine and then go about their daily routine of foraging and frolicking. These habituated wild animals are never fed or handled by humans. Tours are presented by an experienced tour guide. It is a fantastic experience & unique privilege to get this close to these little creatures in the wild.

Cango Ostrich Show Farm is located in the lush Cango Valley, Schoemanshoek, 14km outside of Oudtshoorn on the main route towards the world famous Cango Caves, making it easy to find and making your trip more time efficient.
We have a very exclusive style whereby we ensure each person individual attention. We pride ourselves on our service standards and hospitality.
The farm is privately owned and managed. We believe in good family values, development of staff, proper farming methods and conservation of our rich heritage and the environment. We value our long term relations with clients, and we truly treasure the friendships we forge with every person who visits us.
The farm environment is visitor- & disabled friendly and easily accessible. Our farm layout ensures shady comfortable conditions for those who want it.

At Cango we believe in a quality ostrich experience. The tour is an easy walk through the farm. Visitors are taken out in small groups by professional guides.
We are fond of our animals and ensure that they are always in peak condition.
What you will experience:
the eggs, incubators and chicks (in season)
to hug and kiss our super friendly female – Betsie
to feed the ostriches by hand
to sit on the ostriches and for the daring type, to ride the ostriches (weight limit 75kg) and to stand on the eggs (the ultimate weight test).

29km From Oudtshoorn, at the head of the picturesque Cango Valley, lie the spectacular underground wonder of the Klein Karoo – the Cango Caves. Situated in a limestone ridge parallel to the well-known Swartberg Mountains, you will find the finest dripstone caverns, with their vast halls and towering formations. Cango Caves is the only show cave in Africa which offers a choice of Heritage (easy) or Adventure Tours. All tours are led by experienced, knowledgeable and accredited Caves Guides. All tours are offered in English but Afrikaans, German, French and other language options may be available.

Upon entering the entrance chamber one is immediately conscious of the increased humidity and pleasantly warm temperature. A faint musty odour may point to the presence of a small colony of bats which still make the cave their home. Explore via Van Zyl’s Hall, Botha’s Hall, The Rainbow Chamber, The Bridal Chamber, The Fairyland Chamber and the Drum Room, which is 500 metres from the entrance

The Featherbed Company gives visitors to the Garden Route ‘an unforgettable experience on the Knysna Lagoon’. The Lagoon, more accurately defined as an estuary, has five fresh water rivers flowing in from the surrounding Outeniqua Mountains meeting with the surge of sea water from the Indian Ocean through the mighty headlands – known as the ‘Knysna Heads’ – the grand sandstone cliffs towering above the entrance to the Knysna Lagoon.

There are various family activities in Knysna, of which the Featherbed Company offers several unique activities. Included is our own private nature reserve & trail, restaurants and a fleet of various boats. We can offer activities such as cruising the lagoon, nature trails and hiking the Knysna Heads, as well as hosting private functions, conferences, and weddings at any of our venues.

Our boating fleet includes a 45ft Catamaran sailing boat, a one-of-a-kind Paddle Cruiser, the famous John Benn and a Rivercat ferry. All (with exception of the Rivercat) offer restaurant and bar facilities to cater for luncheons and dinner cruises, perfect for private charters, weddings, conferences, and other functions such as product launches.

Return ferry trip on the Knysna Lagoon to the Western Head.

Optional guided 2.2km walk through coastal forest and fynbos into ancient sea caves.

Our mission is that guests leave our sanctuaries (Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and Jukani) with a greater understanding of the World’s wildlife and the threats they are facing. One of our main goals is to educate the public about the adverse effects of keeping wild animals as pets, in terms of both physical and psychological health. Also important is to teach visitors about the rapid decline of natural habitats due to logging, mining, agriculture and human settlements. We encourage the visiting public to buy goods wisely, ranging from second-hand or antique wood-products, to pharmaceuticals and cosmetics that were not tested on animals.

Monkeyland has captured the hearts of visitors in its efforts to rehabilitate and free previously caged primates. The sanctuary is exceptional as it caters for several species of primates who are not caged. They are free to move about the forest and this they do most harmoniously.

At Monkeyland, the emphasis is on searching for the primates, and the reward is to see the various species as they are meant to be: free and in a natural habitat. The transfer of information about these fascinating creatures enhances your visit to the sanctuary during a safari. The safaris are conducted by multi-lingual game rangers and are fun, exciting and educational. Our guests leave our sanctuary with a greater understanding of the primates of the world and the threats they are facing.

On the guided safaris you can expect to see a variety of primates, ranging from the Gibbons of Asia to the Lemurs of Madagascar. The knowledgeable rangers will tell you all about these fascinating mammals as you encounter them roaming free in the forest. They also point out, identify and explain the many wonders of life in the forest, from the rich diversity of bird life to the intricate workings of the forest itself.

Birds of Eden’s unique two hectare dome (the World’s largest) spans over a gorge of indigenous forest. The sanctuary has its own mysterious ruin, which incorporates a walk-behind waterfall. Another feature is its amphitheatre, which has the ability to seat over 200 visitors.

The decision to develop Birds of Eden stems from the need to create a safe environment in which to release a large collection of free-flight African birds, miniature monkeys and the sanctuary also enables bird owners to apply to release their pet birds into the sanctuary, after undergoing rehabilitation.

Birds of Eden opened its doors to the public in December 2005. Currently over 3,500 birds live at the sanctuary.

The nine premier guest tents are elevated above the surrounding bush, allowing uninhibited views, unsullied by any other man-made structures or light pollution. The main lodge is made up of large staggered tents, joined by decks and elevated walkways.your stay includes Game drives and guided walks.
