Home to around two-thirds of the famous Victoria Falls including the impressive Main Falls and Rainbow Falls, the Zimbabwean side offers a fuller view of the waterfall. During September-December when the water can dry up on the Zambian side, head to Zimbabwe where the water flows all year long. There are also 16 viewpoints of this Natural Wonder of the World, as well as a host of adrenaline-pumping activities worth watching along the Zambezi and wildlife-viewing opportunities across the border in Chobe National Park, Botswana.
The Victoria Falls Safari Club offers luxurious and spacious accommodation with uninterrupted views of the pristine bushveld and spectacular African sunsets. This boutique hotel will rejuvenate the soul and create precious memories as guests are pampered with personalised butler service, cocktails and canapés at sunset overlooking the wilds of Africa, before indulging in a platter-style dinner under the stars.
With a focus on exclusivity, this lavish facility provides unforgettable experiences on the doorstep of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The Victoria Falls Safari Club has a central guest area featuring a lounge, dining area and bar, as well as a viewing deck which overlooks the game corridor to the Zambezi River and a wildlife-rich waterhole.
The Zambezi River cruise is a superb way to relax and enjoy the beauty of the River. Guests may have the opportunity to see a variety of game, including hippo, crocodile, elephant as well as enjoy the many different bird species. The Sunset cruise is very popular and includes finger snacks, beer, wine, local spirits and soft drinks. There are great photo opportunities against often spectacular African sunsets.
The tour of The Victoria Falls reaches Its Zenith in About May Each Year. It’s a truly awe-inspiring experience, the sight, the sound, the smell and the humbling feeling that here indeed is Nature’s Supreme Masterpiece. No photograph can begin to depict the reality and nothing prepares you for your first sight. This tour is conducted in the morning and afternoon. En route, guests may be taken past the ‘Big Tree’ where they may stop and take photos. Guests will be accompanied through the Rainforest by a qualified Guide who will give a brief history of the Falls themselves as well as detailing the flora, fauna, bird & wildlife and other points of interest. Raincoats are provided when needed.
For the Helicopter Tour guests are collected from their hotels 30 minutes prior to their flight departure time and are given a safety talk on arrival at the Helipad, near the Elephant Hills Inter-Continental Hotel. After take-off on the 13 minute Flight of Angels, the helicopter turns out towards the Victoria Falls. The pilot will fly circuits over The Falls in both directions giving guests the best viewing and photographic opportunities. A trip up river and back over the Zambezi National Park completes your flight.
Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is a luxurious riverside retreat in the heart of the bush on the edge of Chobe National Park, home to the world’s largest remaining population of elephants. Sitting above the Chobe River, the lodge offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and floodplains as far across as Namibia. This is an incredibly luxurious lodge with just 15 suites, as well as the only full spa on the Botswana safari circuit. Relax in the split-level swimming pool, unwind with a pampering session in the spa or enjoy the gourmet food that the lodge has become known for.
Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is one of the smallest camps with only six luxurious suites. With star baths and sky beds on your private deck, this is a romantic oasis.
Set in a grove of trees, and surrounded by papyrus beds, Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is built on raised platforms high above the Boro River in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. We encouraged the local community in Maun to collect cans, with a fee paid for every can, which were recycled to form the backbone of the camp’s structures.
